MARCH 31 In The Evolution of Rock ‘n Roll… What an eclectic gaggle of ROCK ‘n ROLL History rolls out of the last day of March!?!

MARCH 31
In The Evolution of Rock ‘n Roll...

What an eclectic gaggle of
ROCK ‘n ROLL History rolls out of
the last day of March!?!

Way back in 1949, before anybody knew that ROCK and ROLL went together, Brother Amos Milburn was tearin’ up
the R ‘n B Chart,
coming in at NUMBER TWO with
HOLD ME BABY…

In 1956, Those white girls who’d been puttin’ out Pop hits like “Mr.Sandman and “Lollipop,”    put on their Doo-Wop stilettos and

 "Eddie My Love" hits #14…

So March 31, 1964 rolls along…
and a LOT of us realize that this JAZZ cat, John Coltrane is really layin’ it down with his release of
A LOVE SUPREME…

Six years down the road and
Brother Sly and his Family Stone
hit the top of the Charts
 (on March 31, 1970)
with
"Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)"…

March 31, 1973: It was all comin’ together when TRAFFIC hit #6 on the Chart with
 SHOOT-OUT AT THE FANTASY FACTORY…

On that same date—SAME YEAR—Lou Reed had an unlikely, yet smash, hit with
WALK ON THE WILD SIDE…

And on this date in 1973,
Loudon Wainwright III
hits #16 with
DEAD SKUNK…

Eclectic for sure,

BUT IT’S ALL ROCK ‘n ROLL TO ME…
